Page 1 of 2 In recent years, Wi-Fi networks have become a large part of campus life. Wi-Fi connections are often easier to set up than older wired networks and allow students to take their computers with them wherever they go. Many professors even allow or encourage students to bring their laptops to class with them, and some universities are beginning to pioneer programs that would replace public computing labs with college-provided, Wi-Fi-equipped laptops. Programs such as this would eliminate the need for computing classrooms or labs; a professor who wanted to use computers in class would be able to do so spontaneously, without having to make a special request for the use of the college’s computing facilities.
