Step One

The first thing you'll need to do is locate the screw at the bottom of the casing marked with a "K". This screw actually holds the keyboard in place so it doesn't fall off. Make sure the lid of your keyboard is closed when you do this, so your keyboard doesn't flop out by accident if it somehow gets loose.

The screw will not come out without a bit of a tap from the top side. Just make sure your hand is there to catch it, and immediately put it somewhere safe.

Step Two

Once you have the screw out, you can now open the lid of your laptop again. You'll be working with your laptop like this for a while, so make sure you take that cloth and drape it over the screen just in case a flying screwdriver heads that way. It's best to push your screen down all the way as this will make it much easier to work with.

At the top of the keyboard, there are these little black clips that clip over the top metal edge of the keyboard. Putting some pressure on the keyboard, and sliding it back, these clips should detach easily with a quick poke of the flat head screwdriver. Do not push them all the way in! Otherwise, the small leaf spring behind this little tab will fall onto your motherboard. When you turn on your machine, it will short. So pushing clips too far = BAD! You don't want to disassemble this laptop. It takes a while. There are lots of parts.

While maintaining pressure on the keyboard, grab a key, like ESC from the far edge and use it to start lifting out the front of the keyboard. Do it gently, but firmly. There is a grey clip moulded into the top chassis that holds the keyboard. You might have to give it a small tug to dislodge it. It may be necessary to give the clips at the top of the chassis a quick poke if they clip back in, but once you get started, you will be able to release your other hand from the keyboard to do this. The top part of the keyboard should clear all the clips, but rememebr not to lift the keyboard up too high as it is anchored by the ribbon cable below.
