Installation

The instructions are very easy to follow with this webcam. Install the software first and wait for the installation to prompt you to plug the webcam into the USB port. Once the webcam is plugged in the installation process is almost finished. One thing about the installation is that you need to have windows 2000 or Windows XP. These are the only operating system that it supports for Wintel Machines. For Apple users, the installation CD says it supports Mac OS but it was not clear as to what version of the OS. An educated guess would say any version of Mac OSX.

Quickcam Software

The quickcam software has been redesign compared to the older version of image studio 7.3. The new design is harder to understand as it promotes video conferencing through MSN, Yahoo, Aol with Logitech Video call as the main screen of the program. The main programs for the webcam are along the right side of the main screen. The small icons that you have to choose are quick capture, windows messenger, video e-mail, Logitech pictures, more applications, and Logitech control panel. Out of this list of choices, only Logitech control and quick capture are the only useful programs that are worth talking about. The extra applications only take you to a website that shows you another use of the webcam. The mini use option just minimizes the program so that only the small icons appear.
