Logitech Control

his section of the software is where all the controls are stored. These controls allow you to adjust the video, audio and zoom features of the camera. Each section has it’s own unique sub-sections that make it useful except for the audio part.

In the video settings, all the lighting controls will allow you to adjust for a better quality image. For example, low light and color boost makes a huge difference for the video image I captured. The default setting is to have color boost and low light filter turned off. It is important that when using the webcam in a poorly lit room that the low light filter is turned on. This means that when under florescent light, it is a good time to turn it on. As the webcam increase the amount of light in the room, the colors tend to get washed out.

The one on the left is using no filters while the one on the right is using a Low Light Filter. See the difference?

The zoom/ face tracking section is a good section to go and investigate with your webcam. Here face tracking can be setup for use and also quick assistant. Quick assistance I found was not very good feature.

The QuickCam Assistant

When I tried to use it, it did not seem to do anything. Manual zoom works great. When using the webcam, I was able to zoom in and out with ease. Like a camera, I was able to zoom into the object that was far away. However, as it zooms in, the subject became off centre and the camera must be adjusted to centre the subject. The face tracking that the camera is suppose to do, is very slow to react. The older software, Image Studio 7.3, the face tracking moves faster than the new version. This webcam will function with the older software and maybe a option for some committed Logitech webcam users.
