Starting at just $999, the Vigor notebook includes the latest in mobile graphics and processing technology along with magnesium alloy casing, a shock-mounted hard drive, and a spill resistant keyboard

MIAMI, FL - July 11th, 2006 - Systemax, the great American PC maker ™, has announced the availability of the new 15.1" Vigor semi-rugged notebook. Starting at just $999 and weighing just 6.6-pounds, the Vigor sets an industry standard in rugged reliability while delivering the perfect balance of performance and affordability for the mobile professional, business person or consumer on the go. The slim and light Vigor notebook includes magnesium alloy casing, a shock-mounted hard drive, and a unique spill-resistant C-Face that surrounds the area around the keyboard, touch pad, speakers, and power switches. The Vigor also complies with the standard military specification for rugged (810F) and offers an Ingress Protection rating of IP54, which specifies the environmental protection a device provides against liquids and solid objects, like rain and dust.

The Vigor is also a fraction of the cost of similar rugged and semi-rugged notebooks on the market from larger competitors, making it the perfect entry-level system for a wide variety of professional and mainstream consumers.

"After listening to customers in industries such as the public sector, government, and law enforcement, we felt it was time to bring rugged, mobile solutions into the mainstream," says Richard Wallet, Executive Vice president for Systemax Manufacturing. "Field technicians, utility repair people, police officers and firefighters are just a few of our customers who need reliable, rugged mobile products that can withstand harsh physical conditions while staying wirelessly connected. We have also seen a demand from business professionals, parents, teachers, and students. The potential for a product like the Vigor that combines great performance with a great look and an affordable price is endless."
