Throughout the rich and varied history of portable data storage mediums, the ability to store more information on smaller platforms has always remained the prime target for improvement. Yet dependability, compatibility and potential driver issues have also plagued the users of newer (and supposedly better) mediums.
With the phenomenal acceptance of USB (by both users and manufacturers alike), a new portable data storage medium has become all the rage. Flash drives, jump drives, intelligent sticks, call them whatever you like - they're here to stay. Sandisk is a prominent maker of such USB drives - including a very popular series, the SanDisk Cruzer Mini 1.0Gb.
Cassette tapes, floppy disks, zip drives, CD's and even external hard drives (and variants thereof) have all been used to transport essential (or even non-essential) data from one PC to another. Yet these mediums have all suffered certain drawbacks:
